Frenchie’s Baskets

My Grandpa, Frenchie, was a master weaver of traditional Salish cedar baskets.

I’m learning to harvest, process and weave cedar as way to get to know my Sto:lo culture and as route to understanding indigenous design, ecology and economics and the potential for decolonising design and systems thinking.

We need multiple kinds of knowledge and views of the world to come together to tackle complex problems like climate change and imagine new ways of living. Design offers a route and process for exploring these ideas.
