Cities of Making explored the future of urban based manufacturing in European cities in terms of technology, resources, place and application. We identified the importance of production in cities for employment, servicing the rest of the economy and providing a basis for innovation and transformation towards a sustainable economy.

The project team comprised members from Brussels (BECI, Latitude, ULB and the VUB), London (UCL and the RSA) and Rotterdam (TU Delft) – which brought together a breadth of competencies in resource and technology, industrial ecology, circular economy, urban planning, governance, strategy, social dynamics and more.
